- The most commonly issued violation notice is a Notice of Violation (NOV), which is resolved at the Environmental Control Board (ECB) of the city. The Environmental Control Board is an administrative court that operates like a conventional court, although it is not part of the state court system.
- It is up to you to promptly resolve violation notices issued by the DOB. Some of them may accrue penalties plus interest over time. If you keep waiting, you pay more eventually.
